Unless you spend a lot of time on watch blogs or researching the latest and greatest in timepiece innovation, Jaquet Droz is probably not a name you’re familiar with. The Jaquet Droz label has been used by the family in relation to clocks, watches, and various timekeeping devices since the middle 1700s. So the history is most certainly there to back up their pieces. They recently released the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One Tourbillon Watch that breaks away from traditional designs in favor of open-worked mechanics with this skeletonized piece that is incredibly accurate thanks to the Blancpain-produced movement while also being sculptural and modern in its presentation. Pricing for the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One Tourbillon has not yet been revealed, but it should be available closer to release. That said, given the heritage, pedigree, and construction quality, it’s probably going to be in the middle five figures.
