Rarely does one man’s passion result in such an illustrious array of spirits. But that’s exactly what one anonymous Scotch lover has done. In what amounts to almost $5 million worth of liquid gold, this collection of rare whiskys will go up for auction on September 27th. Dubbed “the most valuable collection of scotch whisky ever to be offered at auction”, the carefully curated selection of 467 bottles and 9 casks includes such rarities as a 1926 The Macallan 60 Year Old (worth about half a mil), a 50 year Old Springbank 1919 (about $170K), and an astounding 178 bottles of The Macallan Fine and Rare series ($2.7 million). The unnamed collector assembled them over the course of two decades, and is now offering them up to one very wealthy and very fortunate winning bidder. The mere fact that all of these remain unopened is simply unfathomable.
