You Can Own a 1965 Jaguar D-Type

When it comes to what we like to refer to as classic cars that define cool, few four-wheeled vehicles can hold a candle to the Jaguar E-Type. Its predecessor, the D-Type, however, is one of those cars. Thanks to the fine folks at Gooding & Company, you can finally own a 1965 Jaguar D-Type if you’re willing to make the trek to Scottsdale. Outside of the fact that this automobile is in pristine condition despite being more than a half century old, it’s even more special because it has an extensive racing background and was owned by British racing drivers Peter Blond and Jean Bloxham. It’s also numbers matching, one of only twenty-four production D-Types that were made, and one of two delivered in the striking red over red color scheme you see here. This particular example of motoring history will cross the block at the Gooding & Company Scottsdale Auction on January 19 and 20. It’s expected to fetch somewhere between $10 million and $12 million, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up north of there given the condition of the car and its pedigree.
