The Lunar Pilot might not be as legendary as the Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch, largely because it was a personal and unauthorized timepiece worn by astronaut Dave Scott when his Speedmaster malfunctioned during the 1971 Apollo 15 mission. Nevertheless, the Lunar Pilot is remembered as a space-worthy watch, but for some it’s just too damn big at 45mm. Well, good news. Bulova just downsized it to 43.5mm, cleaned up the dial, and issued it in two colorways. The Lunar Pilot Archive Series comes in a black dialed version and a fresh cream dial with navy accents. Both are classically handsome, but they lose the date window for a cleaner look. The NP20 high-precision quartz movement maintains 1/20th of a second accuracy. They come with a three-link brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet, as well as a leather Nato strap that matches the dial. The $895 asking price seems downright reasonable, too.
