Audi e-tron FE07 Formula E Racing Car

Audi e-tron FE07 Formula E Racing Car

The 2021 season of the Formula E racing series is set to kickoff in Chile in January, and Audi just released details on the new show pony their bringing to the circuit. At first glance, it has the traditional, bat shit crazy looks of a stereotypical Formula race car (sharp angles, streamlined curves, open cockpit, etc.) decked out with a fresh white, green and red paint job. The real magic comes from the engine positioned behind the driver. For the first time, Audi developed their new power plant entirely in house, and the MGU05 motor-generator unit as its called is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Weighing in at less than 77lbs, this carbon fiber sheathed electric powertrain has a rotor speed of over 20,000rpm which is good for 250 kW of power output and a 0-60 mph time of 2.8-seconds with more than 95-percent overall efficiency. Unless the other liveries have equally impressive new vehicles set to roll out in the next few months, we wouldn’t be surprised with a few podium finishes for this behemoth–regardless of who’s behind the wheel.
