If you’re a photography and videography buff, you’re no doubt familiar with RED. The brand’s cameras have been used to shoot films like The Martian and shows like The Night Manager. Now RED wants to do for smartphones what it did for cameras. The RED Hydrogen One is a soon-to-be-released smartphone from the brand. So what will you get for *gulp* $1,195 (or $1,595 if you want to go Titanium)? According to the brand, the world’s first holographic media machine. Yes, without the need for glasses, the RED smartphone is said to produce multi-dimensional content and multi-dimensional audio. What that exactly means remains to be seen, but we’d imagine something like the Nintendo 3DS with some sort of new stereo sound. Don’t worry, you can also view standard 2D content for the times when you don’t want to experience the damn future. That’s packed in an unlocked smartphone, running Android OS that’s outfitted with a 5.7″ screen. We’re going to need a lot more info before we drop four digits on a brand new phone, but we will say this, RED absolutely delivered after they teased their cameras for the first time. The phone ships early next year.
