In case you’re not familiar with the name Andrew James Somers–better known as Andy Summers–he’s an accomplished, Grammy-winning musician that’s the former guitarist of The Police. He’s also a renowned photographer who has displayed works at the likes of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Beaux Arts Gallery and Milk Gallery, among others. It should come as no surprise that Summers chose to collaborate with two of the biggest names in the business–Fender and Leica–to create limited-edition pairs of his favorite instrument.s The Fender Custom Shop crafted a custom Monochrome Strat emblazoned with Summers’ pictures on both the head and the body. Leica did something similar with the Leica M Monochrom “Signature” by Andy Summers. When asked about the pair, Summers had this to say–“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have the opportunity to work with two leading producers of two fundamental instruments I hold close to my heart, Leica Camera and Fender. After all these years of being obsessed with photography and the guitar, I now have the two things together for the first time.” Limited to just 50 examples worldwide, Summers’ M Monochrom “Signature” set is on sale now at Leica retailers for $14,995, and the Custom Shop Monochrome Andy Summers Strat is available through Fender for $12,500.
