Apple Released Its Magic Wireless Keyboard with Touch ID

When Apple unveiled its colorful lineup of M1 iMacs this spring, they came stocked with updated accessories including color-matching magic keyboard, mouse, and optional trackpad. Now, Apple has finally released this lineup of updated accessories separately. So, depending on your current Apple computer setup, you can be due for a serious upgrade. Sadly the newly released wireless keyboard is only available in one color: standard Apple silver. Also, the mouse doesn’t really feature any design upgrades (though it does come with a new USB-C to Lightning cable) but the trackpad features a sleeker shape to match the updated keyboard. The big upgrade, though, is that you can purchase the magic keyboard with a touch ID allowing you to quickly log in to your device or authorize Apple Pay. The only caveat is that they won’t work with non-M1 Macs like the 27″ iMac. But, if you have the new iMac or Macbook, these keyboards will allow touch ID functionality. There’s also a new magic keyboard that eschews the touch ID for a lock button if you don’t have a Mac with an M1 chip. The new touch ID magic keyboards start at $149 with a larger keyboard that includes the numerical keypad selling for $179.
