Sonos Finally Made a Portable Speaker

Whether you’re talking about smarthome speakers, multiroom audio or TV soundbars, there’s no denying that Sonos makes some of the most stylish and advanced audio options on the market. The one thing the brand was missing until today was a portable speaker designed to let you take your Sonos listening experience on the move. That’s where the appropriately titled Sonos Move comes in. It’s built around the same Sonos tech you’ve come to know and love (two Class-D amps, responsive audio chimes, far-field microphone array, downward-firing tweeter, one mid-woofer, connection to existing Sonos hardware, etc.) except now it has the ability to also connect to Bluetooth when you’re on-the-go and away from a WiFi network. You don’t want to be investing in a piece of pricier hardware if it’s not actually made to be taken anywhere, which is why the Move is made with an IP56 rating for weather resistance and a shock-resistant case for minor drops. With 10 hours of continuous playback, there’s more than enough battery for most trips. When it does need to be charged, there’s an included charging base for use at home or the office, so you don’t need to worry about running cables all the time. The Sonos Move is available for pre-order now with a delivery date of September 24th.
